Terms

Last updated 12 October 2026

The rules for using gametrans — the catalogue, the translator and the library of translations. By signing in or using the translator, you agree to them.

What gametrans is

A tool that translates games on your own computer, and a library of fan translations people share. We never host or distribute games: get yours from the store its makers chose, and translate your own copy.

Your account

  • Sign in with your own Google account, one account per person.
  • Keep it to yourself: what is done while you are signed in is on you.
  • We may suspend an account that breaks these terms, and say why.

Credits

  • Credits pay for live translation, which costs us money with every line. New accounts get free credits once; admins may give more.
  • Credits are not money: they cannot be sold, transferred or exchanged, and they have no cash value.
  • There are daily limits, and live translation may pause when the day's budget is spent. Prices per model may change; a run shows what it can cost before it starts.
  • We may take back credits gained by abuse — several accounts, or getting around the limits.

Translations and what you write

  • Translations you save to your account may be reviewed by the library team and, if they pass, published in the library for other players. You let us store, edit, publish and share them for that purpose, for free, and you confirm you made them (with the translator's help) and may share them.
  • Comments, stars and suggested lines are public. Keep them about the translation: no abuse, spam, personal data about others, or anything illegal. We may hide what breaks this, and say why.
  • Machine translation makes mistakes. Translations are offered as they are.

Games and their makers

Games belong to their makers. Use the translator only on games you own. A game's maker or rights holder who wants a translation removed from the library can write to fah330518@gmail.com, and we remove it.

Fair use of the service

Don't overload or attack the service, scrape it, get around its limits or credits, or use it to make anything other than translations of games.

No guarantees

gametrans is provided as it is, without warranties. Keep your own backup of a game before you change it — the translator backs up the files it changes, but it is your game. As far as the law allows, we are not liable for lost data, a broken game save, or anything else that comes from using it.

Changes

We may change these terms; if a change matters, we say so on the site before it takes effect. Questions: fah330518@gmail.com. How we handle your data: privacy.
